Pedagogical Manifesto

The Adriano Olivetti Leadership Institute (OLI) promotes the practice of leadership at all levels as a means of facilitating adaptation processes within communities. Our work is inspired by the values that guided Adriano Olivetti’s vision, to whom the Institute is dedicated: humanism, social responsibility, cross-disciplinarity, and innovation.

We see leadership as a practice independent of roles and personal characteristics.

We believe that leadership can be learned and exercised by everyone.

We believe in the transformative and empowering potential of practicing leadership.

We encourage openness to the new and the emerging, and the ability to navigate the losses that come with them.

We promote education in critical thinking, dissent, and democratic practice.

We promote reflection on one’s own experiences, interpretations, vulnerabilities, and hopes.

We facilitate the creation of communities of practice where participation and collaboration in diversity are actively cultivated.

We favor horizontal teaching methods that cultivate a leadership stance in the “here and now.”

We encourage awareness of the ethical, social, and environmental impact of one’s decisions.
